Connected and Automated Mobility will be underpinned by data - Data for safety, data for efficiency, data for orchestration and data for entertainment. However, the emerging unconstrained ecosystem of vehicles, infrastructure and 3rd party services is leading to a reality where design domains are unbounded. Road based transportation is likely to be the first Safety Critical National Infrastructure to have such an emergent architecture. In this situation, systems must be secure by design, but what principles should that design consider?
